Plastic bulkhead fittings should be used anytime a hole is made through glass or acrylic to simplify the attachment of plumbing pieces.

• The lock nut, gasket and washer are placed on the inside of the tank. 
• The lock nut is reverse thread so that it will not come loose when a pipe or valve is screwed in.
